Hand Turned Pens
Innovative Pen Turning Products
Sitting in my workshop, I am pleased that hand turned pens are now possible. They represent a relatively new concept in the woodworking world. Before wood turned pens were born, making a pen often involved sitting down with a block of wood and a hand knife.
You’ve probably seen the process in old-time movies. There’s some grizzled old grandpa sitting out on his porch, whittling away at a stick to make a peg or a pen. It was a very time-consuming process, and there was no guarantee that the finished product would be visually appealing.
No wonder people used to write with quills! If I had to spend hours sitting outside whittling, I wouldn’t think twice about grabbing a feather. Fortunately, technology has evolved since those days, and now I can sit in the comfort of the rolling chair in my workshop and turn out consistently stunning writing instruments.
Age Old Technology Redone
Of course, the technology that underpins hand turned wooden pens is actually quite old. The lathe was used by the ancient Egyptians, and shop classes and carpenters have used them for chairs and spindle-railings for years. However, pen making is a much more delicate process.
I am so thankful for my Turncrafter! It allows me to do all of the pen turning fine work that goes into crafting perfect hand turned pens for you, at a fully automated speed. It is still a time intensive process, but when I think of the porch or the old hand-power lathes, I'm glad innovation came to the woodshop!
Enjoy The Benefits Of The Latest Technologies
When you order one of my pens for yourself or for a gift, you're given the chance to enjoy the latest technologies. Having the opportunity to really enjoy an innovation is a novel change. I mean, technological developments are wonderful . . . but some days I don’t know if my cell phone is a blessing or a curse.
Of course, if it wasn’t for the Internet and my wife’s Internet company, I might not have thought about taking my woodworking habit online. However, I couldn’t be more pleased that I have. Hopefully, when you're writing smoothly with one of my hand turned pens, you'll also be pleased that technology has brought us together and made this all possible.
